DS Barometer, a beautifully designed barometer/air pressure recorder that can be used with Android smartphones without or with a barometric pressure sensors is available. The barometer does more than just measure air pressure. This barometer can calculate the average sea level pressure for your area. The pressure reported on weather maps is called the mean sea level pressure. It is a standard pressure value which allows you to compare atmospheric pressures at various locations, regardless of temperature or altitude. This comparison can be used to predict weather accurately. This application requires your consent to view your location in order to perform this calculation.

A background pressure monitoring function is also available in the app, which was specifically designed for mobile barometer units. Because all pressures recorded are at sea level, our pressure monitor can handle altitude and location changes. The background monitoring function requires your authorization to view the background location at all times.

It can be used for weather forecasting, but barometric pressure monitoring is also useful for barometric headache sufferers and barometric-pressure related conditions like arthritis.

This application calculates the sea-level adjusted barometric pressure for devices with barometer sensors. The calculation also uses temperature and altitude by matching your location against the weather and altitude database databases. These numbers are much more reliable than those returned by your GPS chip or your phone's temperature sensor. They may also result in more meaningful barometric (mean ocean pressure) readings.

NOTICE: Certain devices or apps with a battery-saving feature can turn off monitoring functions in the app. You will have to disable battery saving features if barometer monitoring has been enabled.
