The majority of the 10 EUR Chinese ELM327 device do not support J1850 and ISO 9141-2 data protocols. They will show connection error even though a generic diagnostic app is able to connect to the module.

WJdiag, a customized Jeep WJ/WG app is not compatible with the ELM327 device. If your ELM327 cannot handle certain data required by Jeep, it will not allow you to connect.
