HDR: Why?
------------
A lot of real life scenes have an extremely wide range in light intensity that cannot be captured with a camera. A photo taken in such scenes will show bright spots that look washed-out, while everything in the shadows looks black without any details. HDR allows you to combine details from both bright and dark areas in one photo.
Professional photographers are increasingly using HDR photography. It would be great to have HDR on mobile phones.
HDR is difficult because it requires multiple images with different exposures. Each image must then be aligned perfectly and fused. HDR should be able to handle real-life scenes and include handshake compensation for ghosting. This requires significant computational resources, making it a difficult task even for professionals using desktop HDR software.
Almalence brings its professional HDR software expertise to mobile phones. HDR Fusion algorithms detect and compensate for hand shakes, while suppressing ghosting artifacts. The algorithms can be used on smartphones and tablets because they are fast enough.
