From 1st through 3rd of July 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg took place in Pennsylvania. This battle was the pivotal battle in the American Civil War. It saw the most casualties of any war battle. Three days later, General George Meade's Army of the Potomac defeat General Robert E. Lee's Confederate army. This ended Confederate efforts to invade the North. Although the Confederates had taken control of Gettysburg on the first day, they failed to seize the top ground. Day 2 was an action-packed day that saw a variety of activities at the Little Round Top and Culp's Hill ends. Pickett's Charge was the final day of Day 3. Key Features
